Medford Historical Society

Annual Meeting

Dear Fellow Members,

I am delighted to invite you to the Society's 2007 Annual Meeting to be held at the Medford Public Library located at 111 High Street in Medford on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 7:00 - 9:00 PM in the Magoun Room.

This Annual Meeting is important because we will: (1) elect a slate of officers and board members for 2007-2008, (2) approve an amended and updated set of Bylaws, (3) report the results of a comprehensive financial audit of the Society's books, and (4) provide a brief status report on recent accomplishments and future challenges. Enclosed with (or attached to) this letter, are a variety of items that will help you to prepare for the Annual Meeting and/or enable you to provide our leadership team with your support even if you can't attend the meeting.

Links to all information are below:

A. Highlighted copy of the proposed changes to the Bylaws -- updates and amends the old Bylaws by restructuring the make-up of the Board and clearly defines the responsibilities of the Officers.

For reference, the following documents are also available here: Rationale for Proposed changes to the Constitution and Bylaws, Bylaws as Adopted February 21, 1966.

If you have questions about these proposed changes please contact Jim Kiely at jimkiely1960@yahoo.com or 617.233.1892.

B. Election Ballot -- lists the nominees selected by the Nominating Committee. All nominees have agreed to run for office for the 2007/8 year. If you are interested in serving as part of next year's leadership team please contact me at johnmhs1@yahoo.com or at 781.395.7158. Please note that to vote or run for office your 2007/8 membership dues must be paid.

C. Proxy Ballot - If you cannot attend the Annual Meeting please print out, sign and date the attached proxy and mail it to me at Medford Historical Society, 10 Governors Ave., Medford, MA 02155.

D. Status Report for 2006-2007 -- activities completed by our Directors and dedicated volunteers.

After the business portion of the meeting is concluded, we will proudly co-sponsor, with the Medford Public Library, an illustrated lecture, "Medford in the Gas Light Era," presented by Richard A. Duffy, author, historian and popular lecturer. (Lecture details are on our Events Page). I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
John Lonergan, President
